After 3 days in the city, today I will join a sightseeing tour to visit Mount Rainier National Park, this is a 10-hours day trip. The trip begin with a scenic bus ride, stopping at a visitors’ center. On the way to Paradise Visitors' Center, we’ll linger at several scenic lookout points and gaze at the natural wonders – crashing waterfalls, diverse plant life, and the snowcapped summit. In the late afternoon, we'll follow a different route back to Seattle, taking in even more great scenery.
Below is the information I took from Wikipedia about Mount Rainier National Park:
The park contains 953 km² including all of Mount Rainier, a 4,392 m stratovolcano. The mountain rises abruptly from the surrounding land with elevations in the park ranging from 490 m to over 4,300 m.
The highest point in the Cascade Range, around it are valleys, waterfalls, subalpine wildflower meadows, old growth forest and more than 26 glaciers. The volcano is often shrouded in clouds that dump enormous amounts of rain and snow on the peak every year and hide it from the crowds that head to the park on weekends.
Mount Rainier is circled by the Wonderland Trail and is covered by several glaciers and snowfields totaling some 91 km². Carbon Glacier is the largest glacier by volume in the continental United States, while Emmons Glacier is the largest glacier by area.
~~ UPDATED ~~
Here share with you Mount Rainier photos that I took...
These are the pretty waterfalls at the mountain.
The time I took the right hand side photo, the weather was so cloudy, so izzit look like in the heaven? :)
The mountain is cover with snow and the temperature was low, I have no idea about it before I depart, so I was only wear shirt, short and sandal!!
I was freezing, so I bought a sweater at the gift shop and put it on. And you know what? I heard someone said, "Look at the lady, she is wearing short and sandal!!" when I was walking on the snow. Look at what others people was wearing at the last photo...
By the way,
Congratulation to Kevin aka Taugeh!! He sat on my comfy sofa to drink the coffee yesterday. I had posted the postcard today from Seattle's Post Office, it will take around 2 weeks to reach Malaysia.
