My day

I remember my grandma told me, if we have cough we can't eat chicken, egg, ice and fried foods. I told my host family members about it, when my host mom cooked chicken and wanna take me and the kids go out to have ice-cream. My host family members said to me I should not believe that, that not true... What you guys think???

The following is my today lunch (no chicken, no fried foods)

Porridge 白粥 (I used to cook porridge for myself in US)

Baked salmon (since I can't have chicken, so I had fish)
some of you might say, "salmon again?" tell you why, because my host family they only eat 2 kinds of fish, salmon and tuna. So no choice... since I can't have chicken or tuna with porridge...

Salad 蔬菜沙拉 (One of the things, I learn in US is eat salad, I never eat un-cook vegetable when I was in Malaysia)

My drink - honey lemon mixed (it really help my throat, my throat getting better then before, the only thing is I still having bad cough at night time, but day time is fine, I dunno why??)

Today weather was nice, my kids and I sat at our house front yard, to feel the sun...
I know in Malaysia, we don't do this, cos we have whole year sun shine...
But in US, here has winter, so American love sun...
She was listening to her iPod (can you imagine, 5 year old kid have her own iPod)

This 2 days feel not well, having cough and running nose, today even more worst my throat start hurt when I swallow saliva.

The only thing I feel wanna to eat is soup, so I went to buy soup for my tonight dinner. I bought matzoh ball soup. Matzoh ball soup is a Jewish recipe soup, inside the soup has matzoh ball, carrots, and chicken. It cost me USD$9.98, so expensive... even expensive that having a meal...

After bought the soup, I went to buy medicine in pharmacy, the funny thing was they need to see my ID before I bought the medicine. I asked why? The guy said only who older than 18 years old can buy this medicine. I wonder why???

Au Pair in America

Au Pair = Babysitter = Nanny

I am an Au Pair, a live-in babysitter in American family. In this program, we work as a babysitter and have to study part time courses.

As my dad said, I am a "high-class Indonesian maid" for them. Now, I start to understand the feeling and situation of my "Kakak" (my family's Indonesian maid in Malaysia).

Why "high-class Indonesian maid"?
1) Have chance to study.
2) Have chance to go on vacation.
3) Work 45 hours per week.

We had a gathering in our counselor house. As you can see we all came from different counties. I am the only Malaysian in my cluster (area).

my cute "daughter"

Avery is the youngest kid that I taking care. I love her a lot, she just like my "daughter". Sometime she misbehave but most of the times she is cute and adorable...

We always have funny conversation. One of the example as below:
Avery: "I wanna marry you, Kikey"
Kikey: "No, because I only marry boy not girl."
Avery: "I wanna be a boy, my name is David."
By that time, I laughed until sakit perut (stomachache). Haha.. :D

This picture I took at our front yard, she wanna tell you guys the flowers is going to bloom...

Sometimes I take her with me to buy groceries. Before we go to market, I always have to tell her a deal, "you can buy 1 thing that you like", if not she will tell me, "I want this... I want that..."

She had fun in the car's grocery cart. I dunno Malaysia have this kind of cart or not. One of the advantage for this cart is, the kid will remain sit inside the "car" to pretend driving, instead of walk and run around the market. (I think you can imagine, if they run around the market...)

Most of the American kids have a lot of dress up costumes. Avery have more than 10 different costumes. Yesterday we decided to play dress up game. She dressed up as Ariel and Pink Power Range.

Normal day I don't have to put on my glasses, unless when I using my laptop. One day she came in my room, I was wearing my glasses sat in front of my laptop, she was so surprise, cos she never seen I wearing glasses before.

Yesterday when I picked her up at school, I saw this picture she drew for me in her class. Me, black long hair and have a glasses on my face with my name and her name. She told me she drew me wearing glasses and sit in front of my laptop. (the green thing at left hand side is my laptop)

I really LOVE this picture... She so sweet~~ (^.^)
