Happy Mother's Day

I know that most of my readers from Malaysia probably feel weird and ??? in your head, when you see the post's title. Because we celebrate Mother's Day on second Sunday of May not today.

However Mother's Day in UK is on Fourth Sunday in Lent (Lent is a holy time in Christianity. It is a forty-day period leading up to Easter). Today is Mother's Day in UK. This is the third British's culture I learn; this is my 7th week here.

The only person I miss on this day is my mum...

Mummy, I miss you, sorry I am away so far from you...

Cheery Blossom in London! Spring is here!!

Spring is here!!
Today is sunny and the temperature was 18'C, very warm and sunny!!

Guess what? I saw a cheery aka sakura blossom at here. This is my second time seeing the cherry blossom; my first time was when I having a vacation at Washington DC, USA. I hoped I have chance go to Japan to see the cherry blossom in future...

I heard that Penang has "sakura trees", after seeing the pictures in my friends' blog, I think, they are not a real sakura trees, they just look the same when you see in from far far away. :P

London's real sakura trees (^.^)

Red Nose Day / Comic Relief

Today is a Red Nose Day for year 2009. Red Nose Day is the second British's culture that I learn; this is my 6th week here.

Red Nose Day is the main way in which Comic Relief raises money. It is held in the spring every second year (means every 2 years, I am so lucky to be here!) and is often treated as a semi-holiday, with, for example, schools having non-uniform days. The day culminates in a live telethon event on BBC One (like TV1 in Malaysia) starting in the evening and going through into the early hours of the morning, but other money-raising events take place. As the name suggests, the day involves the wearing of plastic/foam red noses which are available, in exchange for a donation, from many shops.

All this funny business unites the whole nation in trying to make a difference to the lives of thousands of people living in abject poverty, or facing terrible injustice, both across Africa and in the UK.

Every 2 years, they have different design of nose. These 3 types of noses is this year design.

This pictures taken in Sainbury's (a chain groceries store), they will doing something to ask for donation to Red Nose Day.

Most of the people wearing the red nose on this day, for the awareness of doing the charity.
